Frosted Beauty

I grew up in South-Western Ontario, a part of Canada that could get some fiercely amazing snow storms and sub-zero temperatures making for an incredibly long and frigid winter season.  It was all good though because we were sort of set up for it.  Our barns could very easily be buttoned up nice and tight, keeping all our cattle protected from the harshness of the elements.  Here in Othello it’s a little bit of a different story!   Continue reading

Come Together 2016

Come Together 2016.  Our first ever New Years Eve event, hosted by the Othello Church of the Nazarene and sponsored by the surrounding Othello community was more than what our even planners could have hoped for.  We set out on a mission to love on our community, providing games and bouncy houses, a little face painting and a little something savory and a little something sweet to eat.   Continue reading

Ladies Christmas Tea 2016

I love traditions.  Three years ago I moved to Othello and have been blessed to be a part of a really special tradition, the Ladies Christmas Tea.  Since the 1980’s the Othello Church of the Nazarene has hosted the Ladies Christmas Tea.  It’s such a fun opportunity for women to bring out their fanciest china, get creative and decorate a table without having to cook up a meal or do the dishes when the party’s over!  Continue reading

When the fog lifts…

Sometimes the best times are the ones that aren’t really planned!  Like when you randomly decide that maybe you should go on a road trip to visit some family and if the weather is favorable maybe you could take a few photos for them.  A little bit of texting back and forth a couple days ahead of time and co-ordinating some work schedules and I was heading to Salem OR with my four year old and a six week old baby.   Continue reading

Watching Your Friends’ Kids Grow Up.

In my limited experience of raising my own children, I am quickly learning what a blessing and what a huge responsibility it really is.  From the time they are little babies, all we have to do is keep them fed, clean and safe.  Then they get older, they learn words and communicate with more than just a cry.  How we live our lives and treat people and life becomes the primary example for these inquisitive little minds.  You just pray that they turn out all right and that your friends enjoy being around your kids as much as they do with you. The Love in the Littles

The love expressed by little people is second to none!  I love those quiet times when the bigger little people show their love to the little little people!  Sometimes, when all the littles are in the right mood and we have a camera in hand, these moments are amplified.  Not because they know momma wants them to be good for the crazy camera lady, but because they really most truly do love their little baby sister or brother and suddenly they just want to pull out all of their little people charm!  We got to witness and be a part of such a moment with big brother Jacob and his baby sister Abigail! Take a look… Continue reading

3rd Annual Columbia Basin Fitting & Showing Challenge in the books!

Three years ago, my friend Jackie, my husband Chris and myself started a little event to teach the dairy 4H & FFA kids in our area how to fit and show their dairy projects.  It was a very long one day event that saw about twenty kids leave full of enthusiasm and joy.  Even we left the fairgrounds that day feeling completely satisfied and thrilled at what a success it turned out to be!  So we thought we would do it again, but make it last a little longer, round up some even better prizes and try to cram even more information into the eager minds that would attend.  Once again, a huge success, with even more kids in attendance and the coolest part was seeing the improvements that kids from the previous year had made!  So going for year three was a no brainer!  Continue reading

From baby to toddler all in a days work!

Growing up is typically a process and it happens over time, not over night.  As we watch our children grow we witness the new developments daily and sometimes it’s such a slow process that we barely recognize it happening.  Every once in a while we might have to be away from our babies for an extended period of time (like over a weekend or a week at the most) and then when we return home it seems like they’ve changed radically.  We expect it to happen, we’re happy that these things happen and since they generally happen slowly, the change isn’t all that overwhelming!   Continue reading

Cake Smash Fun for Elijah who turns One!

It started out as this adorable little treat, perfect for a little baby boy with a love for all things that go “vroom vroom” and even more perfect for a little baby boy who loves the feeling of something gooey and messy under his nails and in between his little chubby fingers and it was even more perfect than that for a little baby boy who loves the taste of chocolate on his lips.  But it was most perfect for a little baby boy who was about to celebrate his first birthday!  Continue reading
